Genre Fandom called on to ‘Match it for Pratchett’
Posted in: Press Room on 17th March 2008 by UKSFBN admin
Detail: Last December, legendary fantasist and satirist Terry Pratchett announced that he had been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Earlier this month, Terry revealed that he had donated around £500,000 to the Alzheimer's Research Trust to fund research into the disease.
As widely reported elsewhere, sci-fi Fandom has now been called on to 'Match it for Pratchett' and raise another £500,000 for Alzheimer's Research charities. Author Pat Cadigan has started a Facebook Group to help spread the word, there's a website - www.matchitforpratchett.org - has been set up to help coordinate donations, and the producers of the Sky One adaptation of The Colour of Magic are auctioning a replica of The Luggage on eBay for the charity as well.

Terry Pratchett signing, Forbidden Planet London, October 13th
Posted in: What's On on 9th August 2007 by UKSFBN admin
FP says: "Terry Pratchett is quite possibly the most famous fantasy writer in the UK. His new book, Making Money, tells the story of former con man Moist von Lipwig who is now in charge of Ankh-Morpork’s Royal Mint. While doing this job he comes across a vampire, something nameless in the cellar, a 300-year-old wizard and The Assassin’s Guild who are trying to kill him! All Moist wants to do is spend his life making money, but things keep getting in the way."
