Solaris Books signs debut steampunk novelist Tim Akers

Solaris to publish Ellen Datlow’s Poe-inspired fiction anthology

'Poe' ed. by Ellen DatlowIn a recent press release, Solaris Books have announced that they are delighted to have purchased a brand new anthology from one of genre fiction's leading editors, Ellen Datlow.

Solaris Books' Mark Newton tells us: "To coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allen Poe, Solaris are pleased to announce an anthology of remixed and reimagined tales inspired by his work and edited by multi-award winner, Ellen Datlow.

"Top genre names including Sharyn McCrumb, Lucius Shepard, Pat Cadigan and M. Rickert are lending their talent to this project, retelling such classics as 'The Fall of the House of Usher', 'The Tell-Tale Heart' and 'The Masque of the Red Death'. The anthology, simply titled Poe, will be published in both the US and UK, in January 2009.

Solaris Books announces three-book deal for Eric Brown

In a recent press release, the UK's Solaris Books have announced the acquisition of three new 'Bengal Station' novels from Science Fiction author Eric Brown.

Detail: The UK's Solaris Books have begun the online serialisation of Three Unbroken by Chris Roberson, making the first chapter available to read on their website at www.solarisbooks.com/books/three-unbroken/free/ (you can sign up to the dedicated RSS Feed for future posting updates).

Solaris Books' European Sales & Marketing manager George Mann explains how the serialisation will develop: "Chapters will now be posted twice a week, on a Wednesday and a Friday, accessible for free to anyone who stops by. Andy Remic UK mini tour, October - November 2007

SF / thriller writer Andy Remic will be putting in a number of public appearances in the next few weeks to promote his new, high-octane, action-packed novel, War Machine [Amazon], which will be published by Solaris Books on November 5th.

Here's a chunk of War Machine blurb to whet your appetite: "In a time of post-Singularity and FTL, the Helix War has raged across galaxies. Ex-soldier Keenan is now working as a private investigator on a planet at the peaceful fringes of the Tri-Gal. Juliet E. McKenna’s new fantasy trilogy acquired by Solaris

Solaris Books have announced that they will be publishing a brand new fantasy trilogy by British fan-favourite fantasy author Juliet E. McKenna next summer.

The new series, Chronicles of the Lescari Revolution is described by Solaris as "an incredible fantasy trilogy that tells of political upheaval born of civil war in the country of Lescar."

BL Publishing's Solaris Books imprint has announced a new deal for a brand new novel by Northern Ireland based fantasy writer Paul Kearney, author of the acclaimed Monarchies of God and Sea Beggars books.

Kearney's new novel will not be a continuation of the Sea Beggars series, publication of which has stalled ever since both the UK and US publisher failed to agree a contract for a new volume with Kearney; despite strong enthusiasm for the series from both his UK and US editors. Instead his new Solaris title, The Ten Thousand, will be set in a new milieu and is planned - at present - as a stand-alone volume.

Science Fiction author, critic and academic Adam Roberts' new novel, Splinter, will be published next month by UK genre imprint Solaris Books. In a freely acknowledged nod to one of the past-masters of the genre, Splinter has inspired by a classic Jules Verne novel, one which hasn't seen a fresh translation into English in over 130 years, until now: Solaris are also publishing a two-volume slipcased edition that includes Roberts' re-translation of the Verne in question, which will be exclusivley available from Waterstone's in the UK.

Solaris announce UK & US deal for David Louis Edelman’s ‘Infoquake’

Detail: Solaris Books, the SF / F / H imprint of the UK's BL Publishing, have announced a deal to publish the mass-market edition of David Louis Edelman's Infoquake in both the UK and the US in the summer of 2008.

Infoquake, part one of the Jump 225 trilogy, is described as: "a stunning trip through the trenches of a technological war fought with product demos, press releases and sales pitches... science fiction for the twenty-first century." It's currently available in a trade edition, published by Pyr Books in the US, who will be publishing the trade edition of the sequel, Multireal to coincide with the Solaris edition of Infoquake.
