The Cumbernauld Theatre Company will be touring Malcolm Sutherland's stage adaptation of the classic Iain Banks novel The Wasp Factory from mid-April to mid-June.

The tour begins with a ten-day run at Glasgow's Tron Theatre and Tron's Press and Marketing Officer Douglas Martin has sent through the following information on the production.

Detail: We've been reliably informed that the unabridged audio download edition of Iain M. Banks' brand new Culture novel, Matter is already available for download from Apple's iTunes store - in advance of the book's official print publication date of February 7th - priced £21.95.

There will also be an abridged audio CD edition [Amazon] available from February 7th, as well as the hardcover edition [Amazon], published by Orbit Books at £18.99, although the usual sort of online discounts may well apply to these latter two editions...

[+] Edit, 04.02.08 DaveH points out, via the comments (below) that there's also an unabridged version available via www.Audible.co.uk, priced £17.50, although that will involve downloading yet another bit of proprietary software...

Iain M Banks mini-tour, UK South, February 25th - 28th

Detail: Orbit Books have just announced details of a four-date UK mini-tour by Iain M Banks to promote the publication of his new novel set in his 'Culture' milieu, Matter [Amazon].

Banks will be visiting Hove, Bristol, Norwich and Lincoln, between the 25th and 28th of February. Full details have been posted on the Orbit website.

John Jarrold Literary Agency reports a great start to ‘08

'The Grin of the Dark' by Ramsey Campbell - Click for ordering info from Amazon.co.ukThe John Jarrold Literary Agency has enjoyed a busy start to the new year, with news of a news book deal for a current client, a forthcoming book festival appearance and interview with one of the biggest authors in British literature, and a new client joining the agency to round off the first couple of weeks of the year.

First, that book deal. John tells us: "One of the first horror authors being published by Virgin / Random House is the doyen of British supernatural fiction, Ramsey Campbell. Winner of many World Fantasy Awards, British Fantasy Awards and Lifetime Achievement Awards – amongst others – Campbell was described as 'Britain's most respected living horror writer' by the Oxford Companion to English Literature.

Iain M Banks BSFA talk, London, November 28th

Detail: Iain M Banks - an author who surely needs no introduction - will be the guest of the British Science Fiction Association from 6.00 to 10.00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28th at Lecture Theatre 1 Physics, Imperial College, London.

Mr Banks will be interviewed by the BSFA's Farah Mendlesohn, and there will be an opportunity for attendees to pose their own questions and get their Banks books signed.

Iain (M) Banks named as GoH for Mecon 2007
