Now, Derek Gunn tells us that two new Vampire Apocalypse books are in the pipeline: "Vampire Apocalypse: Descent into Chaos is with the publishers and should be released in late 2008 / early 2009 and the third book in the series, Vampire Apocalypse: Fallout, is nearing completion."

British Fantasy Society announces Fantasycon 2008

Fantasycon logoDetail: The British Fantasy Society, the UK's fantasy and horror writers and readers association and organisers of the British Fantasy Awards have confirmed preliminary details of the next annual Fantasycon convention, which will take place in Nottingham from September 19th - 21st next year.

The event will be held at the Nottingham Britannia Hotel - for the third year running - and the first confirmed Guest of Honour is prolific, US-based, dark fantasy, horror, teen thriller, comics and tie-in writer Christopher Golden. The Master of Ceremonies for the weekend (who'll have a hard act to follow after recent performances by the likes of Graham Joyce and Peter Crowther) and further Guests (of Honour or otherwise) will be announced in due course.

British Fantasy Awards 2007 - Winners Announced

The Winners of the 2007 British Fantasy Awards were announced during the award ceremony at the culmination of this year's Fantasycon, earlier this afternoon, in Nottingham, UK.

Master of Ceremonies Peter Crowther, of PS Publishing fame, provided the banter and sight-gags as he invited a string of guest presenters (including Chaz Brenchley masquerading as Chris Fowler, Chaz Brenchley as Chaz Brenchley, Mark Morris, Tim Lebbon, Sarah Pinborough, John Grant, Simon Clark, Steven Volk, Stephen Jones, Simon R. Green, Ramsey Campbell, Michael Marshall Smith and Jo Fletcher of Gollancz Books), onto the stage at the Britannia Hotel to announce the winners of the awards to a packed and eager roomful of fantasy and horror fiction fans.

BFS announces programme for Fantasycon 2007

Detail: The events programme for this year's Fantasycon (Nottingham, September 21st-23rd) has just been announced over at the Fantasycon blog.

Highlights include an in-conversation session between Guests of Honour Michael Marshall Smith and Stephen Jones, plus fellow GoH Terry Brooks interviewed by Mark Yon of SFFWorld.com fame. There's also the usual mix of readings, launch events, late-night ghost stories, the famous Fantasycon Saturday Night raffle, and on the Sunday afternoon, the fantasycon banquet and the announcement of the British Fantasy Awards for 2007.

British author James Cooper has been in touch to let us know that his debut short fiction collection, You Are The Fly: Tales of Redemption & Distress [Amazon], will be published by Humdrumming Books on Friday September 21st and will be launched at Fantasycon in Nottingham during the weekend of September 21st - 23rd, where James will be available to sign copies on the Saturday.

Terry Brooks UK Tour, September 17th - 22nd

Detail: The Orbit Books website has just posted details of the forthcoming UK signing tour that bestselling fantasy author Terry Brooks will be undertaking later in the month to promote The Elves of Cintra [Amazon], the latest volume in his current Genesis of Shannara series.

Terry will be putting in appearances in London, Greenhithe, Basingstoke, Bracknell and Coventry before rounding off his latest visit to these shores with a Guest of Honour appearance at Fantasycon in Nottingham. Full details are available on the Orbit Books website.

2007 British Fantasy Society Awards shortlist announced

The British Fantasy Society has announced the short-listed nominees for this year's BFS Awards, for work published or created during 2006.

The overall winner in each category will be announced at the Sunday banquet of this year's British Fantasy Convention, Fantasycon 2007 on September 23rd, 2007, at the Britannia Hotel, Nottingham, UK.

Pendragon Press launching New Writings antho at Fantasycon ‘07

Chris Teague, of UK independent publisher Pendragon Press, writes to tell us about a new short science fiction / fantasy / horror anthology that he'll be launching at this year's Fantasycon in Nottingham, over the weekend of September 21st to 23rd.

The anthology is called New Writings in the Fantastic, has been compiled by veteran author and editor John Grant (a.k.a. Paul Barnett) and will be: "A mammoth anthology of almost forty pieces of speculative fiction, featuring a wealth of new writing talent from around the world."
