William Gibson signing, FP London, August 29th
Posted in: What's On on 24th July 2007 by UKSFBN admin
We've just this minute received the following announcement from Forbidden Planet: "We are pleased to announce that William Gibson will be signing copies of his new novel Spook Country [Amazon] at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, on Wednesday 29th August from 1.00 to 2.00 p.m."
FP says: "William Gibson is perhaps one of the most influential science fiction writers of his generation. In 1984 he invented the now common phrase 'cyberspace', first used in his seminal novel Neuromancer [Amazon]. That book won him the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award and the Philip K. Dick Award.
"William started writing in 1977 when a lack of interest in anything else saw him revisit his childhood love of Sci-Fi. He hasn’t stopped writing since.
"Spook Country is the sequel to his last book, Pattern Recognition [Amazon]. It follows several different plotlines concentrating on a man working in information transfer, an investigative journalist, a junkie and a military troubleshooter.
"Spook Country also deals with themes of espionage and the media. Added to all that this multi-layered political thriller also revolves around a mysterious cargo container and its contents. It's another classic William Gibson novel."
