Paul Kane’s ‘The Lazarus Condition’ due from Tasmaniac
Posted in: Press Room on 6th July 2007 by UKSFBN admin
Australian independent press Tasmaniac Publications launches this month and their debut publication is horror novella The Lazarus Condition by British writer Paul Kane, author of Alone (In the Dark), Touching the Flame, FunnyBones, Signs of Life and The Hellraiser Films and Their Legacy.
Featuring the novella The Lazarus Condition along with bonus short story 'Dead Time', plus an introduction by Mick Garris (creator of Masters of Horror, director of The Stand, Desperation and the forthcoming Bag of Bones, and author of Development Hell) with stunning cover and internal artwork from Australian artist Dion Hamill.
Tasmaniac describes the book: "Matthew Daley is an enigma. He's appeared after seven years – eager to pick up the threads of his life, make contact once more with his loved ones. Something that's not so easy to do when your family's last memory is of attending your funeral, and watching as your coffin is lowered into the ground...
"The Lazarus Condition is an emotional, moving tale of loss, grief, redemption, and why you should be careful what you wish for. It might not be what you expected. And you will get what's coming to you.
"In 'Dead Time' Helen Kirby is having one hell of a day. As she struggles, through the fog of a chronic hangover, to understand why the world around her seems to have gone to ruin between the time she passed out the night before and the time she woke up this morning, we find out why this New Year does indeed herald a New Dawn.
"'Dead Time' is a new take on the zombie tale – one that shows us without question that any differences between us and the undead are purely a matter of... taste."
The Lazarus Condition will be available in two states: a perfect-bound soft cover (185 copies) prices at $22.95 AUD (just under £10) and an Ultra-limited hardback (only 15 copies) prices $150.00 AUD (around £64), and signed by Paul Kane, Mick Garris and Dion Hammil.
For more information, or to order a copy (international orders are welcome, but the publisher asks that you get in touch beforehand to confirm the postage costs) see the Tasmaniac Publications website.
