BBC announces ‘Life on Mars’ sequel, set in early ’80s
Posted in: Press Room on 11th April 2007 by UKSFBN admin
The BBC reports this morning that the producers of popular time-travel (or is it?) series Life on Mars have announced that a sequel series will be made, with filming set to start in the Summer, for broadcast next year.
The new series will be set in London in 1981, with Philip Gleinster's DCI Gene Hunt character joined by a new time-travelling (or are they?) main character: a woman police officer from the 21st century who's been trapped in the '80s after an accident; "a modern woman who has risen through the ranks of the Metropolitan Police by using psychological profiling to capture suspects".
The BBC are now on the look-out for a suitable actress to play the "sexy sidekick". According to the website, Jane Featherstone, executive producer for TV production company Kudos, giggled: "It's a touch of Moonlighting teamed with a measure of Miami Vice".
But don't worry, it probably won't turn out to be as bad as that description makes it sounds...
