Joe Hill and Star Wars Events at Forbidden Planet, London
Posted in: What's On on 24th February 2007 by Sandy Auden
Here's advance warning of a couple of genre events at Forbidden Planet London. Get 'em in your diaries early…
Author Joe Hill will be signing copies of his new book Heart-Shaped Box at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, on Thursday, March 29 2007 between 6pm and 7pm.
A remarkable new author Hill is already the recipient of several international awards for his previously published short stories and novellas.
In Heart-Shaped Box Judas Coyne is a collector of the macabre: a cookbook for cannibals, a used hangman's noose, a snuff film. An aging death-metal rock god, his taste for the unnatural is as widely known to his legions of fans as the notorious excesses of his youth. But nothing he possesses is as unlikely or as dreadful as his latest discovery, an item for sale on the Internet, a thing so terribly strange, Jude can't help but reach for his wallet - a dead man's suit, said to be haunted by a restless spirit.
Later on in the year, there's a treat for Star Wars fans…
Following a launch at the 2007 New York Toy Fair, Forbidden Planet has announced that it is the UK venue for the world tour by the world’s greatest creator of Star Wars collectibles, Gentle Giant.
The World Tour starts in May at the Star Wars Celebration in Los Angeles before travelling to San Diego, Tokyo and Forbidden Planet in London later this summer. There will be exclusive products only available on the tour - and each venue will have its own exclusive merchandise.
As well as the tour-only Yoda and R2D2 statue and a ’Bust Ups’ 2 Pack of Han and Luke in Stormtrooper armour, Forbidden Planet will be unveiling their very own exclusive Commander Bly mini-bust.
Details on the event – and more limited edition items – to be announced soon.
