- BSFA Awards shortlist
The 2006 BSFA Award shortlist has been posted on the British Science Fiction Association website. The awards for Best Novel, Best Short Fiction and Best Artwork will be voted for by members of the BSFA and this year's Eastercon, with the winners announced at the awards ceremony on Saturday, April 7th.

Director Terry Gilliam will be appearing at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday 3rd February to promote the DVD release of his latest movie, Tideland. More information from www.forbiddenplanet.com.

And Google Video currently has the full (26:36 minute) version of La Jetee, which was the inspiration for Terry Gilliam's Twelve Monkeys. Joe Gordon of FP Blog fame, sent us the heads-up, saying: "This is one of those movies you hear about at talks and conventions, but rarely actually get to see. As with all time travel tales you know not to think about it too closely or both hemisphere of your brain will fold themselves into an endless Möbius loop."

Warren Ellis's second novel, Listener has been bought by US publisher William Morrow, who describer it as "a near-future sci-fi tale about a British journalist who has been embedded with audio implants, turning him into an objective 'listening post', sent to investigate the last outpost of life in the US after it has been decimated by a military biological weapon."
