Doctor Who Companion signing, FP London, Nov 25th

We've just had a quick email from Matt Watson at Forbidden Planet, London to say that they will be doing a signing with Noel Clarke (Rose's boyfriend Mickey in seasons one and two of the new Doctor Who) for the Season 2 Doctor Who DVD box set, on Saturday November 25th 2006, between 1pm and 2pm.

American horror author and editor Charles L. Grant died of a heart attack in front of the television on September 15 2006, aged 64. He had been suffering from emphysema from some years and had returned to his home in New Jersey to celebrate his birthday and that of his wife of almost twenty-five years, editor and novelist Kathryn Ptacek.

Now showing: One Man Star Wars Trilogy UK tour

China Miéville Un Lun Dun update

After running our recent item about Un Lun Dun, China Miéville's forthcoming illustrated story for younger readers, we dropped China a line to see if he had any news of a UK edition.
China was able to confirm that the UK edition will be published by Macmillan in the UK, a couple of months after the US edition comes out, and that China will be illustrating this one, too. No details of the UK edition on Amazon.co.uk yet.

Michael Marshall Smith short story set for filming

A recent announcement on Michael Marshall Smith's website confirms that development has started on a feature film adaptation of his 1996 short story 'Hell Hath Enlarged Herself'. Michael is working as producer and co-screenwriter on the movie, which is a co-production between Cuba Productions and Lightworks Films, financed by the UK Film Council.
Legendary fantasy author Raymond E. Feist is over in the UK this month, promoting his new novel Into a Dark Realm [Amazon.co.uk] so check if he's visiting a store near you.

Earthlings: Ugly Bags of Mostly Water

A new documentary (with a title referring back to a description of humans from a Star Trek episode) explores the Trekkie phenomenon and its Klingon language. Michael Dorn (Worf, ST:DS9) stars and the film is being released to coincide with this year's 40th Anniversary of Star Trek.
